For my violin, I chose to paint two different paintings depicting the wild and harmonious nature of the ocean. Mercurial by nature it can be calm and beautiful one minute and windy and violent the next. I have titled it Nature’s Rhapsody.

I love and respect nature and have a passion for plein air painting. En plein air is a French expression which means “in the open air” and is used to describe paintings that have been created chiefly outdoors, rather than in the studio. I enjoy the spontaneity and challenge of working outdoors. Starting with a blank canvas, requires immediate decisions regarding design, composition, color and value; capturing the essence of the moment from temperature of color and atmospheric changes to finding the truth in nature that is rapidly changing. Being in the moment, absorbing the sight and sound, the moving light, clouds and water add to the challenge.
